anyway...
Yeah, every year our village hosts its annual 'Scarecrow weekend'. Basically its a huge competition that 'most' of the village takes part in. We have stalls, games and various other things, all to raise money for our village church's maintenance.... no one ever uses the church XD but at least it looks nice for one when someone decides to get married.
So yeah, last time, 2011 i made CAVEMAN BOB! ...i did submit a pic of him, dunno if anyone remembers. Anyway, it won, mostly thanks to the rawing tiger sound sytem i set up that drowned out our local brass band XD.
Well this year i decided to go all out and see what i could really do... unfortunately i was too ambitious and eventually lost heart over the 2 months of building and did a crappy paint job
but, it was fun at first... its mostly down to the fact that it took me 2 weeks to paper mache' the damn thing and i had to build a shelter for it, as it got so big i no longer fit in the garage XDDD.
well it is 12ft tall, 20ft long, head to tail and its wing span is almost the same.
oh yeah, i forgot to phootgraph it when it was at its 'chicken mesh' stage.
Also, all the materials were reclaimed; wood was from a building i modified, chicken mesh was donated by local builders merchant i know, paper was from my uncle, he works at a newspaper printer.
all i had to buy was paint and a heck of a lot of nails and screws! XD
anyway, it sort of qualifies as art, so i decided to submit it here XD
.... where is it now?
sadly it wasn't water proof and though the rain held off for the weekend of the event, it did rain on the second night and we had strong winds too...... it didn't survive XD. one wing snapped off and all the paper turned mushy....... SO WE BURNED IT
XD 2 months of my life gone!
....>>; also, it came 2nd... curse you Shaun (local mechanic) and you 'Status crow' (metal sculpture of status quo rock band as scarecrows ) ... it was good, i voted for it... infact it was kinda funny, I met Shaun and his family in the street on the day and we both just yelled out 'i voted for you' XD

NEXT YEAR.... or rather, THIS YEAR WILL BE MINE!
I will say this... if i had a warehouse and loads of money, plus no time limit pressuring me, building things like this would become a huge hobby of mine!
